Why women need to strength train at every phase of life.

Why women need to strength train at every phase of life.

Strength training is an essential component of any fitness/training program, and it’s essential for women. However, many of us have been or are hesitant to lift weights, believing that they will become bulky, and masculine-looking or get that we could get injured

In the next 2 mins, we’ll explore the importance of strength training for women, and discuss some of its many benefits:

First and foremost, strength training is an excellent way to build lean muscle, giving us all the toned look we are after. Now, why is a lean muscle so important to us? Well, it’s important for women especially, as we tend to have less muscle mass than men, and are more prone to losing muscle as we age. By building muscle through strength training, we can increase our metabolic rate, burn more calories, and maintain a healthy weight for longer.

Additionally, strength training can help build stronger bones. This is because strength training puts stress on the bones (load from the DB’s / kb’s and barbells), which stimulates the production of new bone tissue. This is particularly important for some of us at a higher risk of developing osteoporosis as we age.

Strength training can also help improve posture and reduce the risk of injury. When your muscles are strong, they help support your spine and reduce the risk of back pain and a host of other injury-prone areas like necks, shoulders, hips, etc.

Finally, and one of the biggest and best benefits I think, strength training will help us feel more confident and empowered. By setting and achieving strength goals, we can develop a sense of accomplishment and self-esteem. Additionally, strength training can help us feel more capable and independent, which will have positive effects on other areas of our lives.

So, what are some exercises that we should do and incorporate into our training? There are so many options to choose from (the Lean & Build programs have them all), depending on your fitness level and goals. Some great exercises to start with include squats, lunges, and dumbbell exercises such as bicep curls and tricep extensions, hip thrusts, etc.

It’s important to note that building strength is a process that takes time and dedication. It’s essential to start with a weight that feels challenging but manageable and to focus on proper form and technique. As you get stronger, you can gradually increase the weight and intensity of your workouts.

Strength training is essential for us all, and can offer a wide range of benefits, By incorporating strength training into your weekly schedule and setting achievable goals, you can develop the strong, capable body you need to feel your best and live life to the fullest!
